This Booker goes on to become a gambler who amasses a large debt as well as getting married and having a daughter, Anna Dewitt, and eventually becoming the main protagonist of Bioshock Infinite. In one reality Booker refuses the baptism. Following the Battle of Wounded Knee, Booker attends a baptism in a river as a means to wipe away the sins he commited during the fighting. It is revealed at the game's climax that Booker and Zachary Comstock are actually two different versions of the same person created by a pivotal decision in Booker's life. Their relationship from this point of the game becomes extremely important, and the two work together to bring down Comstock and Columbia.Īlthough early on in the game it appears that Booker is in fact travelling to Columbia as a means to 'erase a debt,' this is merely a fabrication he has created in his mind as a result of being brought through a tear from his own universe to the one where Comstock, Elizabeth, and Columbia exist. Now hang on kids: this is where it gets confusing. Slowly learning about how much Elizabeth's ordeal has been living in Columbia brings about somewhat of a change in Booker, and he begins to respect Elizabeth and wants to protect her from harm, not just for his own personal gain, but because he cares for her. He doesn't however bank on Elizabeth knowing about geographical co-ordinates, and she soon figures out that they're headed for New York, not Paris. He is initially quite manipulative, and tries to trick Elizabeth by stating that he will fly the airship they've boarded to Paris. Personality and Relationshipsĭespite seeming quite cold and aloof at the start of the game, Booker does begin to show concern about Elizabeth, and develops a strong bond with Elizabeth.
